They are: Coach Marion Waters Coach Waters came to Greer High School in 1974, where he coached football for eleven years. He coached the defensive line & worked with Steve Woodward in developing one of the most productive defensive football teams in the state. He became Principal at Greer Middle School in 1986, and then at Greer High in 1993. Mr. Waters is particularly proud of the community aspect of Greer High, and the expanded programs at the school that allows students more opportunity to participate. The service learning organizations and clubs allow young people to give back to the community through civic projects such as Big Thursday. Prior to Greer, he attended Clinton High School and then Newberry College, where he played football for 4 years and was selected team captain. An exceptional educator & administrator, Coach Waters played for the great coach Steve Robertson, who influenced him in a positive way. He is married to Ann, and they have a daughter, Melanie Dixon. Phil would drive the cheerleaders to away games for many years and other trips, including one year to Disney World. After their son Philip, who currently serves as the team’s Defensive Coordinator, graduated in 1990, they continued supporting Greer High.
